DeleteAs for reading in Russian to your niece and nephew, I do think that it's all good! I speak with a heavy Russian accent in English, yet I have been teaching classes in schools and libraries, and kids never mind. Another approach you can take is just retelling the story in your native language - it doesn't have to be a perfect translation or anything, it is all about engaging!
