How our friends and associates deal with our fears, and more importantly, deal with us while we're experiencing things we're afraid of, tells us a lot about them, just as our response to their fearful times shows them a lot about us. Your story brought back for me both memories of times when people near me responded with compassion and of times when I was ridiculed or excluded. We all fear some things ... for certain, none of us are free of fear. Let's do be careful with each other in such times. It seems the right thing to do. I had to ...Oh I actually saw myself in this story! I had to do some tame rock climbing, but it was climbing none the less, to get rock samples for a class in college.
